Le pianiste américain Orion Weiss et la chef d'orchestre JoAnn Falletta reviennent chez Naxos. George Gershwin a enflammé la scène musicale new-yorkaise avec son mélange de mélodies accrocheuses et de vibration jazz. L'Ouverture de Strike up the band est celle d'un véritable hit de Broadway et, inspiré par un voyage en train, le compositeur aurait entendu son célèbre Rhapsody in blue comme un "kaléidoscope musical de l'Amérique". La pièce Promenade est la reconstruction d'une musique de film de 1937, et Catfish row est la suite de concert de l'opéra Porgy and Bess. Des chefs d'oeuvres du répertoire américain restitués dans toute leur force !
