Héros du punk made in England, les Stranglers se sont formés en 1974 et sont depuis un exemple de longévité. Avec plus de quinze albums à leur actif, le groupe de Jean-Jacques Burnel a en effet su faire évoluer son répertoire, tout en restant fidèle à ses fans. Pour leurs quarante ans, ce coffret anniversaire propose six albums qui ont forgé leur légende, dont No more heroes, The raven et La folie, ainsi que deux live de haute volée : Live x-cert (1979) et Live at the hope and anchor (1992). Contenant entre autres la fameuse reprise Walk on by, la compilation Off the beaten track s'avère ici un complément parfait, de même que leurs deux derniers opus : Suite XVI (2006) et Giants (2012). Un coffret essentiel donc, riche en titres aussi rageurs que mélodiques...
