Bill Frisell, Kenny Wollesen et Carol Emanuel forment le Gnostic Trio. Leur mélange unique de minimalisme, de musique ancienne et de jazz a donné naissance à certaines des plus belles compositions de Zorn. "Sing Me Now Asleep", leur premier album depuis plus de cinq ans, explore, sans surprise, des directions nouvelles et inattendues : notamment deux morceaux aux influences ambient, dans la lignée d'"Absinthe" et de "Redbird", et une longue composition dramatique, à la manière de ses oeuvres cinématographiques sur fiches. Sublimé par les sonorités électroniques envoûtantes d'Ikue Mori sur un titre hypnotique, ce neuvième album du Gnostic Trio est leur oeuvre la plus douce et apaisante à ce jour, et annonce une nouvelle orientation musicale remarquable pour ce supergroupe tant apprécié.
