Sorti en 1988 sur Mercury, c'est le deuxième album studio du bluesman américain Robert Cray. "Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark" est une solide publication des vétérans du groupe The Robert Cray Band. Les chansons sont toujours consistantes et Robert Cray est au top de son jeu. Sa voix douce, son travail de guitare cinglant et son écriture intelligente lui permettent de rivaliser avec le meilleur blues moderne et électrifié d'aujourd'hui. Le groupe n'obtient pas souvent le crédit qu'il mérite tant, puisque Richard Cousins (basse), Peter Boe (claviers) et David Olson (batterie) font un excellent travail en accompagnant Cray sur ces chansons. Les cornes sont fournies par les Memphis Horns et Wayne Jackson. A noter la présence d'un invité en la personne de David Sanborn qui joue du saxophone dans "Acting This Way".
