Voici le troisième volume d'enregistrements studio inédits réalisés entre janvier 1968 et février 1970 par le trio Hendrix, Cox et Miles. Pour leur toute première session d'enregistrement, le 22 avril 1969, Jimi Hendrix se tourna vers leurs racines musicales communes : le Delta blues. Leur réinterprétation plus énergique de Mannish boy (Muddy Waters) ouvre l'album et donne le tempo pour la suite. Ce volume se distingue des 2 précédents par la présence de featurings prestigieux : Stephen Stills apparaît sur 2 titres, le guitariste Johnny Winter sur un titre ou bien encore Lonnie Youngblood sur Georgia blues. Le disque a été produit par Janie Hendrix, John McDermott et Eddie Kramer, producteurs également des deux précédents albums de la trilogie et garant de l'intégrité et de la continuité de l'héritage légué par Jimi Hendrix depuis 1996.
